Wrought Mg alloys have tremendous potential for applications in automotive vehicles and high-speed trains. However, the current usage of wrought Mg alloys is very small due to their low productivity and high processing cost. One way to solve this problem is to develop a magnesium alloy and a thermomechanical processing technology that can deliver wrought products at significantly higher production rates. This project aims to develop a high speed extrusion/rolling technology for wrought Mg alloys, which can significantly reduce the processing cost by increasing the production efficiency.
